Newcastle, England – Tensions are growing between Newcastle United and their star striker Alexander Isak. The Swede has claimed the club has not kept promises made about his future. This statement has come at a time when his name is being constantly linked to Liverpool. Last month, Liverpool also offered 110 million pounds to buy him, but Newcastle rejected it.
Isak says the club has broken its promise and now the trust has been broken, so change is necessary. At the same time, Newcastle says no such promise was made and they made it clear that Isak’s contract is till 2028, so he is not available for transfer this summer. In fact, the dispute started last year, when the club promised to extend his contract and increase his salary, but this did not happen. Isak believes that there was an understanding between him and the club that if a big offer came, he would be allowed to leave.
The situation has been further complicated by Isak’s behaviour. He skipped the club’s pre-season tour, claiming he had a thigh injury. He then trained alone with his former club, without informing Newcastle of the incident. He could now face disciplinary action from the club.
Isaac is now in his third season at Newcastle. It is believed that next year, he could invoke FIFA’s Article 17, which allows a player to leave the club after paying compensation to end his contract. The situation has put Newcastle in a difficult position. The club must decide whether they sell Isaac now and get a big payout or risk losing him for a low price next year.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are closely monitoring the matter.
