London – English club Arsenal is going to take Crystal Palace’s star midfielder Eberechi Eze into their team very soon. It is reported that Arsenal has completed Eze’s release clause of 68 million pounds (about Rs 720 crore).
Arsenal Reportedly Close to Securing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace in £68 Million Deal, Tottenham Stunned
This transfer has surprised Arsenal’s neighbor and club Tottenham Hotspur, which has been interested in Eze for a long time.
Arsenal took this step quickly when their player Kai Havertz missed training due to injury and is expected to be out for a long time.
27-year-old Eze still has two years of contract left with Crystal Palace. But according to reports, he has been an Arsenal supporter since childhood and now he himself wants to come to Arsenal.
Talks were going on between Tottenham and Crystal Palace, but Arsenal’s quick action changed the situation. Eze is expected to join Arsenal after playing in Thursday’s Europa Conference League match against Palace.
The deal will be Arsenal’s seventh signing of the summer. Eze had a stellar season last season, scoring 14 goals in all competitions, including the decisive goal in the FA Cup final.
Although Eze would not directly replace Havertz, his presence in the squad would allow other players (such as Mikel Merino and Leandro Trossard) to cover the centre-forward position until Havertz returns.
Eze joining Arsenal would not just be a strategic boost for the club, but also an emotional moment as he left Arsenal at the age of 13 and is now set to return.
