Sheku Sheriff has been given a late call-up to the senior national team of Liberia, The Lone Star for the 2019 AFCON Qualifiers away at Congo.
Sheriff inclusion means the Shipping Boys are having six representatives in the Lone Star’s squad for the crucial encounter against Congo. He joins his teammates Tommy Songo, Ashley Williams, Kemoh Kamara, Allen Njie and Saah Nyumah that were included in the 20-man list released by the Liberia Football Association earlier.
Sheriff, who helped the Lone Star U20 finished as runners-up in the 2018 WAFU Nations Cup is yet to make a competitive senior appearance for the Lone Star. His only appearance for the senior national team was against Nigeria in a friendly match on September 11.
He played 28 minutes in the Lone Star’s 2-1 defeat to the Super Eagles at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex.
