LISCR FC has conducted their first training session as they prepare to take on Al-Hilal in the return leg of the 2018 CAF Champions League preliminary round. The Shipping Boys arrived in Sudan on Friday, February 16 by 02:00 AM and conducted their first session.
Thirty-three out of the 34-man delegation arrived in Khartoum via the Khartoum International Airport and was taken to the Grand Holiday Villa Hotel where they’ll stay until the match against Al-Hilal on Tuesday, February 20. Deputy Sports minister, Andy Quamie will arrive on Sunday to complete the 34-man delegation which was previously announced.
The Shipping Boys arrived in Khartoum by 2:00 AM and conducted their first training session by 7:00 PM at the mini Dar Alrayda Stadium in Khartoum, Sudan. Tapha Manneh’s squad trained under an unusual sandstorm weather at the Dar Alrayda Stadium.
Prior to the team’s first session at the Dar Alraydya Stadium, there were unnecessary delays by the host who showed up more than three hours after head coach Tapha Manneh requested that the pitch be inspected before conducting his first training. Communication was to Hilal’s executives during the team’s breakfast time but Tapha Manneh had to wait until 4:15 PM before arriving at the venue where he’ll prepare his players until the crunch encounter on Tuesday at the Blue Jewel in Omdurman.
Despite the host’s delay tactics and experiencing a very strange weather condition, boss Tapha Manneh remains optimistic over his side going through to the next round
Actually, I’m bit afraid about the weather, but as I previously said, this is a competition we are in to compete and not to participate. Any condition we find ourselves in now, we will have to cope with it and find our way out because we are here for a mission. We are here for the positive results. Weather it is a win or a draw, we are here to qualify. Our target is to go to the group stage and whoever comes our way, we,ll take on you as a competitor.
